You wouldn't have to use as much energy for the techniques is kind of what I was going for. That'd be a benefit that could be fun to play around with. And because she said these things could have previously been done by magic, I took that to mean there would be magic as well. So you could use the technology to enhance your abilities or counter any innate weaknesses. And it would be useful assuming that not everyone has magical abilities, or for those weaker with them.
Just throwing stuff out there. Like I said, I want more details.

CP's got it. that would be the premise behind that idea. Magic vs. tech. and so on.
I mean I'm game for OL's idea, but we'd need to flesh things out a bit before I could commit. Because I still don't like the idea of some of the worlds being universes of tv shows or games. idk, it might be because on a previous site we had a concept like that and a few people did choose to do that, and it was horribly confusing.

Eh....I prefer the magic and tech combo. Magic vs. Tech being the sole premise seems...I don't know...kind of overdone, I guess. Unless of course, we're assuming that the tech is only in one area, and the rest of the lands don't have it (but damn it all, they want it. And if tech-people won't give it up, they'll take it) so they fight for it. Because then it's more of a forced magic vs. tech. Otherwise, going off what I was saying in my last post, I think it'd be kinda stupid of a bunch of people to fight the technology, excluding old geezers who are stuck in tradition.
And as for some worlds being universes of shows or games, I was hoping we'd bar that too. Just because obviously none of us have many problems with creating original characters, and original people/concepts/worlds make life fun. So I was planning on bringing up something like that anyways.
And as for you worrying about universes being from shows or games or something else of that ilk, I feel that can be remedied with an Original Characters and Worlds Only, Break This Rule and Die

yeah, that would sorta be the premise I imagine. the tradition of magic vs technology. but it's a real loose concept, I didn't have much else behind it.
I'll nag aura to get on and post his imput, but just from when we were talking, he seemed to really like the idea of the dragon rider one.
Like I said before, outer's idea is good, but it depends on some of the backbone of it for me. I mean I don't want another The Passing. that's my biggest issue.
so, here's a place to start, it seems a majority of us want something medeval fantasy esque. Am I correct in saying that? We haven't heard from Dy or Isis in a bit.

Well, wow, hold's on now. Fleshing out required? Okay, I'll give you fleshing out: So, yeah, this is pretty much a total rip off of League of Legends, but the concept is really freaking cool (to me at least). The world the RP takes place in used to be a normal world, with countries and nations and such. They had armies (some) and there were wars. People would use magic, spells would be cast, etc. However, at the end of the last, biggest war to date in history, the world was nearly ripped apart by the intensity of the magic used. Without some sort of limitation on the magic and healing of the planet, all the civilazations would suffer catastrophe. Enter "The League". To avoid such an eventuality, it was formed to settle disputes of countries/nations in the form of arena-based battles between champions who volunteered to be fighters. These champions could be powerful individuals from across the world, political supporters/opposers of governments, neutral parties to most nations, or even people/creatures summoned from other worlds by the "League" itself. However, summoning those "champions" out of their worlds might not be exactly something they liked. Sure, some did, but not all do. So it's more frowned upon and was mainly used in the beginnings of the "League". Not to say it's impossible for more to have been summoned illegally or drawn to such a concentrated place of magical energies, or even "champions" that just decided to come of their own accord because their bored. Who knows, up to you guys. But yes, like CP says, this isn't Passing. I want all characters to be 100% original (Unless Aura wants to make a guest appearance of Shimogin since he's basically the "God of the 4th wall" on this site ). So yeah, that's my idea. I think it'd be pretty sweet. Possible corruption in the "League", conflicts between the nations of the planet that create battles for champions in the League, out-of-combat lives of the champions and their popularity, love interests, what nations are doing now that they can't war with each other directly, etc.

Well i did have some ideas too.
I would imagine there could at last be a small sect that does seek to combine both magic and technology but they'd be radical extremists on both sides. could add some moral ambiguity here. Or hl maybe those that are acting to use the league for personal gain can be like this, thus making them a more credible threat.
Also I thought that some of the conflict could be over a rare form of mineral that has benefits for both magic and technology alike. Likely I don't expect this to be usd but it's a thought.

I assume dy you meant for the idea I had?
and outer:
ok, so the 'worlds' are more or less like Kingdom hearts worlds were; by that I mean once part of one big world but got torn apart? Or are you going to just skip that part and say it's still one planet?
and basically, instead of figting wars, to settle disputes they send people to this arena place to fight?
-is it only disputes between worlds or can it be within a 'world/country' too? -are they fights to the death?
and one thing aura said that should be considered, and CP will remember this point as well too from the above talked about RP; we need to be cautious of this because if everyone creates their own world, it could get just as confusing as a bunch of not original worlds. So we'd need to be careful with how complex we would make the societies.

At Ink:
1.) When I say "worlds" I mean more like "other planets/dimensions". I guess you could say they used to be connected, or that could be fit into the lore if you guys like that, but I was thinking of it more as them just being entirely different places not on the planet the "League" is on.
2.) Yep. Wars equal countries using lots of magic which disrupts the planet, which is still suffering scars from previous major magical wars. Not to say everyone uses magic, but obviously whoever cast the biggest spells usually won.
3.) The fights could be disputes within the same country. There really hasn't been any battles between worlds since they're not easily connected without someone being summoned with a very powerful summoning spell or by them finding a rift through space to travel through, so all conflicts up to date would have taken place between denizens of the "planet/world" the "League" is on.
4.) There is obviously killing intent and no holding back in arena battles, but the participants don't die due to extremely powerful magic used to prevent death. Well, at least that's how it is in the game I'm basing this off of. Obviously having people respawn after dying to continue the objective, starting at level 1 and leveling up to 18 every single match, and other similar things would be impossible to recreate in an RP. So it's up to you guys if you want people to die for real if they become incapacitated in a match or not.
5.) I agree with Aura. I'm thinking that not every character that's summoned from another world should be from the same "other worlds", but there really shouldn't be a whole lot of emphasis on where they came from. Maybe a little backstory, but the main emphasis should be on the character interacting with the other "champions" and adapting to their new life on this world.
Also, I think you keep thinking every character you create that's a champion HAS to be from another world. That isn't remotely the case. Most champions would be from the world the "League" is on (and by most I say out of, say, 90 champions, only 10 are from some other world, maybe 15. And of those 15, at least 7-8 are from the same world). The whole world thing is just an extra/backstory thing. The main emphasis would be the planet with all the nations, environments, and the "League" with it's different arenas.

ok, that help explain a bit. See, I was getting confused because you were using the terms 'worlds' and 'planet' which was confusing me as to if it was warriors from different worlds, or different countries.
as for deaths and the like, maybe we can say it's up to the combatants? They can choose to kill their opponent or not. and maybe certain circumstances can say if their allowed to, like the severity of the conflict their fighting for. I feel like this would be a good change because we don't want it to be exactally like LoL.
and who runs the arena and all this stuff? like, I'd assume a representative from each participating country/world. but is there a particular group who came? like, we could make a particular race who came along to 'help' or help.

I would say that a neutral party would be the best option for who runs the "League".
Up to the combatants? Sounds good to me.
Let's keep it at that (for now) though. I don't want this to get all "super duper complicated" that certain persons won't want to get into like they did with Fire Emblem.

In regards for it being up to the combatants if the opponent gets killed, in the situations they aren't dying are you guys thinking a judge to determine who wins, or are we just going to have it kind of like Nine Hearts and the extremely powerful magic makes it so we're instead stuck with broken bones and internal bleeding instead of dying. Because obviously the people made for this are going to be kick ass and can level small buildings with ease, otherwise they probably wouldn't be a volunteer to fight for this magical war.

yeah lol.
well, what does everyone think? We have one reletively solid idea, and if we all like it we can elaborate on just the things that need to be elaborated upon. basic place names, and solidify how everything works. I think we should make sure if we do this, that it's based on LoL, but not exactally the same thing ya' know? Originalities sake.
but any other ideas? haven't heard many others comment on being into this idea or not. I think it's a good idea to get a few ideas out there so we can toss 'em around. I know I've got one other idea, sort of similar to outers in different ways, that is also based on concepts from a game, but it's a bit more specific structure wise. But still pretty easy to understand. and it would allow for different worlds and such.
it's up to the people though!
