My name is Darnus, and I'm here to [hopefully] get something [preferably several somethings] started and finished--most notable of which is an Xcom game I've been running here at college with a couple of guys who pointed me towards this board.
Now, as for introduction stuff, I'm a college aged fella who's been doing tabletops RPGs since I was...not college aged. In the least. I have a little bit of history on online rpg sites, but I always spent way too long on posts, and I was always worried that what I was writing wasn't good enough--here's hoping I'll stray away from that here.
I mostly like fantasy-type stuff, although I get queasy when I'm in a setting with magic that's too intense [commonplace]. I'm also an absurd fan of swashbuckling-style movies, mostly Errol Flynn stuff from the 30's-50's. [watch the final scene from captain blood, then you can call the final battles in most movies 'good'. They got like 200 guys, gave them shirts and swords and axes, and said 'pretend to kill each other on these fake boats'. AND IT IS AWESOME] But, as I mentioned, I do like a little sci-fi here and there, mostly either quasi modern or far future, like cyberpunk and space odyssey stuff.
I also like XCOM. I played the original, terror from the deep, apocalypse, and then a whole number of spinoffs.
And then they made another one.
And it was good.
