I'm doing this to maybe give Ink something to show her friends. Our talks have had me wanting to do a D&D based RPG on this site.
The fun of it...playing up a good...or not so good...team of adventurers.
I prefer not so fun as in the past I was part of an evil group. In fact my guy nearly took over everything in our farewell campaign. A Dark Elf cursed to never stay dead (If he is killed he comes back in two weeks), who when I last used him was pinned, shackled, chained and spellbound to a cell wall with his only company an insane zombie cleric's head, a insane Zombie cleric who worships a Mop...named Julia...a male Mop. (Don't make fun of Mop as Dale's beheaded an ogre with only a shield in a fit of rage and that was when he was alive and human.)
So here's a sample RP bit to maybe....just maybe make one want to RP D&D.
The night was always Tevram's friend. Not just because his dark skin but he made use of how foolishly superstitious most people could be. With the right spells or tricks one could make the strongest men cry out. But this wasn't the case with his current target. Another cult, one of many that worshiped some misbegotten horror that would likely turn out to be some long lived Beholder, Dragon or Necromancer. That how it usually was, except that one time it was a wood elf who was building that harem of men and women...
But this cult was known for it's members to seem cold and without emotion, able to fight fearlessly, like they were possessed.
That's where the Chimera came in.
It was hard to capture, moreso because it fought back so hard that killing it was tempting. That and she killed their hunter, the half goblin.....what's his name? Fergyl? Forgar? Something with an F...
Anyway, the Chimera would prove a powerful enough distraction for his team to get in. A team made of a Cycloptic Barbarian named Gurn the Pulverizer, a witch named Sedira...a fine woman to look at but not much on personality, Dale, who had yet to find a new body and was still stuck to Mop's mop handle and a half elf thief who was slowly earning Tevram's enmity named Ziro.
"So, we're just setting the Chimera loose and charging in?" Ziro asks.
"For the last time yes. They seem to be driven by logic. They'll consider it a big enough threat to send most of their horde against it. Once they have sent enough we charge, hit them hard, get in and find this leader." Tevram snaps.
"And then what?" Gurn asks.
"Kill him, loot the place, grab the Baron's daughter and take it from there." Tevram says.
"By take it from there you mean you'll try to woo her while considering blackmailing our employer for a bigger reward, right?" Dale asks.
"We may have been locked away for about 12 years Dale but some things don't change. I am who I am." Tevram grins. "Everyone had better remember that."
"Yes, the would be God...who was betrayed and locked away by his friends." Ziro says. "Why haven't we killed you yet?"
"Gods tried and failed. You either learn that or...I'll see to it that you at least loose your manhood." Tevram says. "That's if I am in a good mood."
"Well we've come this far with you. I'm in. Just remember, I call dibs on any spell books." Sedira says.
"Yes Sedira..." Tevram says with a tone of both annoyance and disappointment. "God, how could such a good lay be so damn boring..."
"What?" Ziro asks.
"Oh that's right....you two are dating. Sorry, it was that night after that Mindflayer attack. She was in the mood, I was...well me." Tevram grins.
"You son of a..." Ziro reaches for his knives.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." Gurn says. "You'll tip off the cultists that we're here and we'll all die. He'll just get back up later."
Ziro sneers.
Sedira sighs. "Well I got sick of you coming onto all those barmaids. Don't deny your lack of faithfulness Ziro."
"We'll settle this later." Ziro says.
"Not likely." Tevram says. "Gurn...get ready. The Chimera's catching up. Me keeping that cultist dagger really was a good idea. Killing it's pups with it allowed me to frame these bastards good. Now Mommy's gonna fight to the death while we benefit."
"You're really sick." Ziro says.
"Thank you. Your kind words warm my black heart. Now weapons out, keep the big spells and bombs on hold until we see actual monsters...not the small fry and stay close. Spreading out will get us killed and...you're all still of use to me." Tevram takes Dale off of his back and wields him. "Oh and Gurn, remember that any zombie that isn't trying to eat us is a friend. We'll need Dale to make numbers we can use from whatever he can bite."
"Gotcha Boss." Gurn says as the Chimera flies over, letting loose a blast of flame at their stable.
"Oh, there goes their ability to retreat. Smart Beast." Tevram smiles. "Let go take some heads." Tevram says as Ziro and Sedira go first.
"You're gonna kill Ziro before this is done, aren't you?" Gurn asks when he was out of earshot.
"Likely. Think I should tell him I violated both of his sisters during that trip to his hometown before I do it?" Tevram asks.
"Wasn't one of them married?" Gurn asks.
"Yes she was. But that never stops me. If we get out of this, remind me to tell you about the time I took to bed a woman who was Strahd Von Zarovich's current plaything...in his own bed alongside his niece Lyssa." Tevram grins. "Now...let's go kill things...and bring some back from the dead.
"Mop protect us." Dale says. "Praise be to Mop. May his floors be ever clean!!!"
"Yes....sure. Whatever makes you happy....you crazy zombie bastard." Tevram says as he and Gurn charge in.
And that is a taste of what we could do...if anyone is interested.
