Prolouge
Xyrec follows his escorts with a sly smile. He had arrived in Sibonius only an hour ago at best, and the shocked and awestricken citizans had welcomed him as one would expect a beloved war hero to be greeted. They had made the quickest haste to alert their king of his presence, and he was already being lead to meet with this king in high tower of the shaman baracks in the castle.
As they enter the room, he pauses in the doorway to observe his greeters. Shamans stood in two slanted rows and bowed to him in unison, some were obviously higher ranked than others by their outfits. they all had their hoods up, so aside from height, many looked about the same. In the center of them was the king.
The man smiles at Xyrec with a look of disbelief and awe "By the gods...Welcome to my castle Lord Xyrec. I am King Leorilis." the man says with obvious disbelief in who was before him "I apologize for not greeting you with a more extravigant welcoming, but it was so sudden."
"I can imagine, don't trouble yourself over it." he says still smiling, now more with amazement that in his awe, this man was blind to the danger he was in.
Leorilis smiles "We shall have a feast to celebrate your arrival, and there you can share with us your story." he steps forward with a laugh "My daughter Leona should be here soon. She was training as you arived and I wanted her to get presentable."
"Of course." Xyrec replys, intrigued by the existance of this princess "And what of your Queen?" he asks.
the King's face goes solem for a moment "My wife died years ago. I'm afraid it's only Leona and myself."
Xyrec nods "I see, well at least you can find solace in that you should be reunited with her one day."
"Yes, this is true." the King says with a smile "I'm sure Ravenoc permitted her to enter his utopia, and there she waits for me." he says with a content smile
Xyrec steps forward "Your welcome has been so warm, oh King Leorilis. Showing me such hospility when you only know me through text books. I feel I must repay you somehow."
A shaman shifts in his place.
the King smiles "No, there is no need. You are a guest, and I am simply being a good host."
"Oh, no no no. I insist, I must repay you...." he grins sinisterly "I know just the thing." he reveals a tome in his hand that was hidden by his robes. his other hand shoots out "ANUBIS!" a spiral of darkness appears at his fingertis and from it, the outline of a great dark dog leaps out. it hits the King and knocks him down.
the King hits the floor, an expression of pure shock embedded on his now life less face.
Xyrec smirks watching the shaman. from behind him there is a scream.
"FATHER!" a girl rushes past him to the corpse of the dead King. she kneels beside him "No....no..."
Xyrec looks over the girl and smiles. She was beautiful, no doubtably the princess. He had heard someone reffer to her as 'the black rose of Maltorin', and he felt that the title didn't do her justice. He watches as she stands, glaring at him, even angry she was beautiful. he chuckles as she seems to reach for a sword that wasn't there. "Seize her." he orders two of his escorts, who had been in on it the entire time.
they do so and she resists "Unhand me! What is the meaning of this? He muredered your King, my father...Kill him!" she orders.
the shaman are still.
Xyrec chuckles "My dear, they aren't going to listen, they know to do so is certain death. They know my power. As should you." he says, extending a hand and brushing a lock of hair behind her ear.
"Don't touch me!" she yells as she pulls away from him, holding back tears.
Xyrec laughs quietly and turns away from her to the shaman. "These smart gentlemen have pledged their loyalty to me. Those who do not wish to follow their King will do the same." he stops in front of one of them "Well? I'm waiting."
the shaman hesitates, then kneels and does so. Xyrec moves on to each shaman, each says almost the exact same thing, that they pledge their loyalty to Xyrec.
He stops infront of one shaman in the center. the shaman stands up strait "I pledge my loyalty to the true ruler of Maltorin." he says, his voice echoing the smirk under his hood.
Xyrec smirks "I like this one." he says and moves on. after all the shaman had made an oath to him, he returns his gaze to the princess. "Now then, as for you, princess Leona." he says with a smirk "One of you, take the lovely princess to my chambers. I'd like to get to...know her better." he chuckles
"Your chambers my lord?" a shaman asks
Xyrec sighs with frustration "The former King's bedroom."
The shaman who had caught Xyrec's eye steps forward "I'll do it." he says, taking Leona's arm firmly.
Xyrec smiles "good, take one of my originals with you, just in case she gets fiesty."
the two shaman take the struggling princess out of the room.
Xyrec smirks "Now then, someone show me to my throne."
---------
"Unhand me now!" Leona says as she struggles to break free of the two shaman. she could not understand how they would turn on her so quickly. was fear really so powerful?
The shaman who had volunteered to help stops in place. the other looks at him "What?"
"Eldark!" he casts, knocking the other out. he removes his hood.
Leona looks at the face of the shaman and smiles, huging him "Xalan!"
"come on, we have to get you out of here. It won't take much for him to corrupt the other soldiers." he says pulling her through the halls
"but...you...pledged loyalty to him.."
"No, I pleadged loyalty to the true ruler of Maltorin." he says glancing at her.
she smiles as they reach a stairway and go down it. it lead to the soldiers baracks. they sneak through outside, and in the cover of the darkness skim the castle walls to the gates. a horn goes off and they look behind them. a troop of soldiers are running at them. "Run." Xalan says and the two start to sprint to the gates. they make it through in time to beat the closing gates, only to be surrounded o te other side by myrmidons. Xalan stads in front of Leona and holds out his hand "Anubis!" he casts and staggers as the enemies are blasted back. the two continue running, Leona grabbing a sword off an unconcious myrmidon as they pass.
-----
Xyrec watches from a window. he sees the two dots running, recognizing the spell the boy had cast "Bring them both to me! And send the Wyvern Knights to Galiere. Tell them to attack. No mercy."
--------------
Red Dusk stands in a golden chamber of the pillar at the Shiriac Runes. he places a golden orb into a slot on a massive ornate door. it fits in like a key and glows. it rotates three times and the doors slowly open. the room beyond is plain, untouched by sand. in the center is a plain golden slab, with cushions on the top. on the golden bed, lies a laguz teen. he appears asleep, but as Red Dusk approaches the alter-like bed of the laguz, his eyes slowly open.
the laguz sits up and looks at him blankly, blinking a few times.
Red Dusk stares back momentarily, turns and walks away.
the laguz gets up and looks around, only to find the one who had woken him up was gone. "Huh..." he says simply, scaning his surroundings.
------------
Five days later...

Prince Valek peered north as the setting sun stained his hair a deep purple. He sighed deeply. The hill outside the small town of Luel was in beautiful spring bloom. The colors of dozens of flowers danced in the sunset.
Prince Valek brushed a piece of his blue hair from his eyes.
From behind him a pair of footsteps could be heard.
"Your Majesty!"
"Where are you, Sire?"
Valek did not turn immediately. He knew the voices as those of his guards, Cliff and Russel.
The pair of Cavaliers ran up, close to the Prince.
"Sire..." Cliff asked concerned. "You...you shouldn't be out here...It's...dangerous...."
"Please..." Valek said sadly."Just....let me be for a moment..."
Valek did not watch as his soldiers, and friends, bowed then walked away slowly. They understood their dilemma as well as Valek did.
Galiere had fallen. A surprise attack by Maltorin had caught the forces of Galiere at the capitol Ferresis off guard. Valek had left just a week ago. He was on his way to Alba, accompanied by some loyal retainers. While stopped in the small village of Luel, they had learned of the capitols demise. The king was dead, and Maltorin had taken over. Now they were spreading out to crush any Galiere resistance.
And to find the missing Prince who holds Galiere's must precious relic around his neck: The Galiere Fire Emblem piece.
Valek held the piece firmly in his fist while he turned. He watched as the sun set in the west, over the rest of Galiere: Valek's country.
As the dark spread around him Valek gulped.
A calm voice spoke to him. "You know we must continue on sire...We do not have the forces to fight back Maltorin...we need to continue on to Alba...we need their support to win this war..."
"I know Ogden..." Valek spoke to his oldest protector, and teacher.
"Let us get some rest. We have a long road ahead of us." Ogden spoke.
Valek nodded. He turned his back, but looked back once. North. Ferresis. Home. And he knew someday...he would be back to reclaim his rightful place on the throne of Galiere.

Red Dusk held his mask tight on his head as he watched the sun set on the desert. The golden sands had turned black and cold. He turned and walked east.
Soon he arrived in the town of Brimstone. A lawless town in western Maltorin. It was on the edge of the desert, and was still feeling the effects of a sandstorm as Red Dusk arrived.
He quickly took shelter in a bar. The sand blew in the door as he quickly closed it. He looked around.
A variety of scum, rogues and villans sat around the bar. Some looked at Red Dusk as he entered and gave him dirty looks. Others were too busy, or too drunk to notice him.
Red Dusk walked slowly up to the bar. The bartender was a large dirty man, who also gave him a dirty look.
"Whadda you want?" He asked.
Red Dusk looked around at some of the men. They had begun to rise, talk slightly, and move toward him.
"Water please." Red Dusk answered. A man tapped him on the shoulder.
"Hey...we don't like stangers in our humble, nice town, so I rekin you get!" The man said.
"Now Roger, don't be so rude....he can stay...as long as he hands over those beautiful swords..." Another man said.
Red Dusk grabbed a hilt and turned suddenly. The men backed away in a flash. Red Dusk unshealthed his Steel Sword and pointed it around the bar.
"So this is how you treat an official of the Maltorin Army?" Red Dusk asked.
The men chuckled as the drew their owns swords, knives, and daggers. One man yelled."The amry doesn't mean anything here bud! We make our own rules!"
Red Dusk scowled."I can see that.." Red Dusk drew back his blade. He brought it back for a tremondous slash, but instead he hooked the tip of his sword around a bar stool and flung it at the largest group.
The men flinched and blocked the bar stool as Red Dusk quickly spun behind another table. he quickly kicked it at the largest group again, this time knocking them down.
A man slashed at Red Dusk, but he was quicker, dodging the blow, then striking the man down. another man threw a knife at him. It struck his arm, but was not a life threatening wound.
Red Dusk blocked a sword thrust, before flipping the man by his foot with his sword. Suddenly another man appeared behind that one.
As he was about to strike, he was flung by another man through a window. The Rouge that had thrown him motioned to the window.
"Go!" he yelled to Red Dusk. Red Dusk followed the man through a window and ran after him down the street.
They turned down a dusty alley. The Rouge stopped.
"I'll hold them off. Go to the Skeletal Arms Inn. Ask for room 4. I'll be there soon." The Rouge spoke. He turned at a sound a quickly through a knife into a man. He turned back to Red Dusk and yelled."Go!"
Red Dusk ran. The desert night around him was cool, but still dangerous.

Leona sits around the campfire with Xalan. They had managed to escape Xyrec and his men....her men. they had started south, towards Alba. She sighs and stares at the flames.
Xalan walks over and takes off his cloak "Here, you look cold."
She looks at him and laughs "No, we both know you need that more than I do."
He frowns and puts it back on "As you wish" he says, and she gives him a a slight smile "Just remember who was the one who got us out of there m'lady."
She laughs "don't be so formal Xalan...I can't stand it..."
he nods.

"Sire." A bishop and a cavalier bow before Xyrec. "The Princess continues to elude your forces. I am here to offer a more... subtle approach to pursue her. I have a small band of mercenaries i usually use for more...stealthier pursuits. Trackers and assassins every one of them. With your approval..." the Bishop looks up. "I, Regis, your humble servant, will deliver your princess on a platter and the head of the rogue who stole her from you mounted on a spear."

Xyrec thought deeply for a moment."Yes...Your forces will be a must for capturing these pest. The Princess means little to me. She is nothing more than a loose end that needs to be cleaned up. With her out of the way, the royal line will be naught. This rogue Shaman however intrigues me. If he can be brought back alive do so. However if he becomes a liability, I don't care how you bring him back, just bring him back in his entirity."
Xyrec paced slightly as he spoke. He then sat on the large obsidian throne of Sibonius.
"I will also need to contact an associate of mine. He helped me quite dearly, and I have a job in mind for him. So go forth." He called out as he waved his hand.
---
Red Dusk waited nervously in the Skeletal Arms Inn. He had found his room and was pacing. Occasionally he looked up at the door, until finally-
"Sorry bout that!" A voice said pleasantly. Red Dusk watched cautiously as the Rogue entered. He was finally able to get a good look at him.
He was a tall lanky fellow. He had a scarf wrapped around his face, but as he undid it it revealed green eyes, and a flurry of bright red hair. His skin was slightly tanned and worn from too much of the desert sun and sand. His outfit was a simple brown and black vest and trousers, but upon closer examination revealed many pockets and mysterious sleeves.
"That's better..." The Rouge said as he undid the scarf and some over-cloaks. He sit with an oof, and finally relaxed.
"Well...sorry about that. This town is known to cause trouble."
"Who are you?" Red Dusk asked in his deep voice.
"Little suspicious are we? I'm Flint."
"Why did you helped me?"
"Jeez, you are suspicious. What a Maltorin citizen can't help out his own country by protecting a member of Maltorin Royal Army?" Flint asked with a grin.
"I don't need help." Red Dusk spoke, slightly angered.
A long silence broke the talking. Flint interuppted.
"But I do."
Red Dusk looked at the man suspiciously again."What do you man?" He asked slowly.
"I...I'm looking for someone." Flint asked, slightly sad.
"I can't go around on some-"
"I know." Flint interrupted."Just...I have a feeling...Will you be heading into Galiere soon?"
"I can't disclose that information." Red Dusk said almost mechanically.
"Well...If you do go there...I'm just looking for someone...my younger brother Toby...We were separated in Galiere in some of my travels...I know he's still alive, and I need to find him...I can't let my fathers last wishes be in vain." Flint spoke, his face not looking up.
"Toby?" Red Dusk asked almost knowingly."I..." He looked away for a moment.
"If....If I find him...I will make sure he gets to you." Red Dusk told the man as he walked out of the room.
"Wait!" Flint spoke as he stood up."Where are you-"
"Don't worry." Red Dusk interrupted. He looked back slightly."You will find him..." Red Dusk ran off quickly, leaving Flint only wondering.

"Wake up."
Ra groans and rolls over.
"Come on get up!"
He moans even louder and covers his face with a wing.
"Ra! Get up we need get moving. The sooner we get to the captial, the sooner we can find out why our Wyvern Knights were heading to Galiere." Godric says firmly, shaking his shoulder.
Ra rolls over and frowns at him "The sun's not even up yet!"
"Yes, and we slept in. Everyone else is ready to leave."
Ra sits up "Yeah, well you're all soldiers!"
"Man up." Godric says "Are you going to whine like this when you meet my princess?"
Ra stands "No..."
--------
Xalan watches Leona "Are you...how are you doing?" he asks
She pauses "...alright..." she rests her arms and head on her knees.
Xalan sits next to her and puts an arm around her shoulders. he says nothing, knowing she didn't want him to. he also looks away when he spots tears forming in her eyes. His princess was proud, it was bad enough she was crying in front of him, he didn't need to watch.

meanwhile in Lucevus, Isolion...
Lorivast strides down the temple hall, admiring it's design as usual. no matter how many times he saw the interior of the grand temple, he was always amazed by its beauty. He was on his way to meet with Lord Gregor, who had called him to discuss the recent attacks on Galiere by Maltorin. Troubling the whole situations was. the two countries never really got along, but nothing had ever sugested a full out invasion. he could not understand the king's thinking. then again, there was always more behind such strange events. There is a reason for everything after all.
As he rounds a corner to enter the Bishop's quarters, a loud, blood curtleing scream can be heard echoing through the halls. It was coming from the Hall of Gods. Lorivast quickly changes his direction, and runs up the golden stairs to the hall. when he arrives, there is a large group of priests and clerics, all in some turmoil. as he walks towards them, he discovers the source of the scream; on the floor lay an unconcious elder cleric. he notes that several of the others were praying. before he could ask what had happened, he looks up and discovers the reason for the commotion.
The light that shined through giant stained glass murral of the Gods that stood at the top of the chamber; which in any normal circumstance, would have depicted the three Gods standing together over the dark image of the Demon God, seemed duller as if the Gods were upset. there was an errie gap between the two Godesses, one that should have been filled by the image of Ravenoc. The God had disappeared completely from the image.
"I...Impossible..." Lorivast mutters in shock.
"You know what this means?" someone asks "this is the portal by which the Gods watch over us, our eyes into their realm. Ravenoc has left! He...he's gone."
some hysteria breaks loose. clerics cry, another faints like the first had. Lorivast is at a loss for words.
a young priest looks up at the mural "...gone?....he...he has abandon us?"
"Enough! Everyone, please calm down." Gregor walks up behind them slowly. he looks at the young priest "do not speak such blasphemy. there...there is a reason for this."
Lorivast nods "There has to be..."

The roughnecks arrive near dusk as Garen had predicted. the left their horses, Garen took Joe and they went to scout the bandits. "You see that?" garen whispers "What, they are all asleep" Joe whispers back "Exactly, i don't even see one of them on guard, lets go tell the others" Garen whispers back. They get back to where the horses are. "Aragon, i want you to stay here, i will yell if we need you, i think a dragon flying at them may wake them all up real quick." Garen said "The rest of you with me quietly. As they surround the 8 tents the bandits had set up, it looked like they were all asleep. Garen gave the signal and they moved in quietly he had Joe go in front and Katrina near him so he could protect her. Matt and Seth went to the left and Sophie was next to Joe. They all froze when one of the bandits stepped out of his tent to take a piss. as he was whizing away, Joe nodded to Seth, as he and Seth walked up behind the bandit, they both stabbed him in the back, with his dying breath he managed to bellow "INTRUDERS" "Shit" Garen said "ATTACK!" Joe yelled back. the bandits were caught off guard from the sneak attack at night. a young girl maybe 15-16 ran from one of the tents with only a sheet covering her, Garen grabbed her and sent her with Katrina. then the bandit walked out, and Garen cleaved him from shoulder to hip with one fell swing (CRITS FTW!) the bandit fell down killed instantly. Joe blocked an ax from one of them and nic'd him a few times before getting him with a stab in the chest. Seth was getting attacked by two of them, Matt jumped on the ones back stabbing him repetitively in the shoulders before the bandit threw him off, he hit one of the tents and got caught up in it. The bandit was about to kill him when suddenly a slim lance blade appeared through his hand forcing him to drop his ax. Seth kicked the bandit he was facing in the nads then stabbed him in the heart.
Sophie then backed up as the bandit faced her "What a pretty little thing come to Bubbah!" he said as he leaped at her, she fell on her butt spear up, causing the bandit to kill himself on the spear "AHHHHHH" Sophie screamed in terror.
Matt freed himself from the tent, and walked over with Seth who joined Joe, who was breathing heavily, he had killed 2 bandits and was facing another that had a iron blade. Matt went to help but Seth shook his head "Hes got this" Seth said.
Joe feinted forward to draw a strike from the bandit he fell for hit thinking the kid was an idiot, after his blade hit the ground Joe slashed him twice from left to right right to left across the bandits chest. "YOU LITTLE SHIT I'M GOING TO KILL YOU!" he yelled as he swung down he blade at Joe. Joe barley blocked him time the tip of the blade catching his cheek, he fell to one knee trying the keep the blade from touching him, the bandit rose his sword again, but he was too slow, Joe tackled him to the ground, turning the sword fight into a fist fight. Joe got 2 or three hits on the bandit punched him hard in the shoulder knocking him off balance. the bandit grabbed his blade and went for an uppercut slash. Joe fell over and barely managed to block it, part of the hit cut his left leg open. Joe limped back bleeding the bandit smirked and laughed "Stupid child now you die!" as he said that Joe spit in his face catching the bandit off guard the then lunged forward with all his might stabbing the bandit in the stomach, and his blade breaking in 2 after stabbing him.
"Good job Joe" Seth said to him as Joe collapsed "Shit KATRINA!" he bellowed ----------(one hour later)------------ "Wha-what?" Joe mumbled as he tried to sit up feeling Garens hand pushing him back down. "Idiot could of got yourself killed" Katrina yelled at him. "cut him some slack it was his first fight, and he took on 3 of them, id say he is lucky to be alive!" Garen laughed, but then a serious look came across his face "Don't do it again" "Lets see what we have here" Garen said as he looked at some of the stuff they had found in the camp "Some gold, a few axes a bizarre looking scroll...some swords, a few pieces of armor. A feather? why the hell would they steal a feather... there is some more gold, a chest with MORE gold, holy shit how much did these guys get away with" "Lets rest for the night Seth you and Matt get second watch, ill take first watch and Aragon will take third watch ok?" Garen said all three of them nodded at him. (and now they sleep!)

Dante sat in his office in Sadsgow, his legs up on his desk as he leaned back in his chair. He was reading a newspaper that's head article was covering the recent attack on Galiere by Maltorin. "Damn, another war?," he said to himself. "You'd think these guys would stop reinforcing the negative bad guy vibe they give themselves by now." His office was more like the only room in his soon to be opened store anyways, or at least more like a hiring location. He was planning to start selling his services to people who needed someone to do their dirty work, but he hadn't settled on a name yet for his shop. It was sort of why he was reading a newspaper to begin with; inspiration.
Unfortunately, his commentary and musing was cut short by knives flying through the windows at the front of his shop; flying straight at him. Going through the newspaper, the looked like they hit him. Until he lowered the paper with his left hand, revealing a wooden block in his right with the knives embedded in it. "Would you look at that! Not even open yet and already someone's out to kill me!," he said out loud, obviously trying to get the attacker's attention.
The door opened up and in walked the assassin. Dressed in a black cloak with similarly-colored clothing and bits of armor, the man said, "You're more resourceful than I was told, Dante. I'll have to keep that in mind." "Wouldn't be much of a surprise if you knew me.," he said with a shrug. Getting up out of his chair, he tossed the wooden block behind him. "So who hired you? Some business rival who didn't want the competition?" "That's for me to know...and you to find out.," the man replied before coming at him with a quick stab of his concealed dagger. Dante knocked aside the blow with his arm and went for a left hook, which the man dodged and went to stab again with another dagger. Dante however also evaded that one.
It went on like this for about a minute or two before the assassin kicked at Dante, to which he back flipped out of the way of. Landing next to his sword, he lifted it up and swirled through the air before pointing it at him. "Getting feisty, eh? If you're going to step it up, its only fair that I do too ya know." Dante then charged forward at the assassin with his sword pointer forward, his signature "Stinger" attack. The assassin rolled out of the way, but that attack cut the end of his cloak a bit.
Looks like I'll have to do what the man said after all., the assassin thought to himself. "It looks like you get to live a little longer Dante, since the person who hired me figured I wouldn't kill you as easily as I thought I would. In such a case like this , he told me to tell you that Vergil was his name and that soon, he would have God of Chaos's power on his side." "Wait, Vergil?!," Dante said, surprised that his brother was somehow involved in this. "Till next time.," the man said before leaping out one of the broken windows and running down an alleyway, disappearing into the shadows.
"Vergil...heh. Looks like my business will have to wait.," Dante said to himself. Walking over to a coat rack, he grabbed his signature red cloak and put it on in one fluid motion. "An invitation would have been more polite, but if you wanna see me so bad I guess I'll just have to deal.," he said, twirling his sword and placing it on his back in it's special holder there. "And odds are, you're somehow involved in this business with Maltorin and Galiere." With that, he walked out of his buidling and took off running, heading towards the Maltorin border; and whatever else lay beyond waiting for him.

Celeol Academy of the Arcane Arts, Alba:
Rhia walks through the school's halls, glancing in at ongoing classes as she passes rooms. She was one of them only last week. the thought made her chuckle. As she turns the corner to the library, she sees her old mentor coming towards her rather hurredly. he seems distressed. when he spots her some relief comes across his face as he rushes to her. "Rhia..."
she smiles "Hello. Are you alright?" she laughs
"Rhia..." he says. he gives her something wrapped in cloth. it is heavy, like metal. "Rhia, you need to take this, and run...anywhere. Just someplace safe."
"What? What's going on?"
"Do't ask questions" he says lookig over his shoulder "You cannot let it fall into the wrong hands. Now go, quickly..."
She nods slowly, not understanding completely. she puts the...whatever it wsa. into her bag and moves to the exit of the building.
her master smiles faintly, and turns, hearing his pursuers comeing closer.
