I had an idea brewing of a super hero type RPG for some time and only recently have I come to grasp at what I want of it. It's not going to be a conventional thing, more like the TV show Heroes where it's just people with powers, not costumes and capes.
The source of these powers is the old evolution card. However the trigger only goes as far back as the first nuclear bomb explosion, the Trinty Test. The first potential date for a super powerd bing to be born is April 16th, 1946. Anyone born on or after this date has the potential for powers. Not all will manifest. Some powers need triggers, some come naturally, others...instinctively.
Now this would be a modern day setting and at this point these people would be the stuff of urban legends. No one knows how many of them are out there but they are out there. And this story shall bring them to day.
The premise revolves around the choice of one man, who was granted the greatest power of all. A psychology major who in his studies came to develop his mind to the point where he realized he literally....could do anything.
Afraid of his power he made himself split into three selves, each possessing two powers in order to prevent his powers to be misused in this intermediate state. They were the manifestations of his Id, Ego and Super Ego. All three programmed with the quest to find the answer to one question:
What does a man who can do anything do with himself?
The ideal plan was to meet 2 years after their separating and rejoin with the answer.
The id self never came.
Now, on the anniversary of the Third year of the separation the id self has appeared as part of some organization of super beings. Their goal, to reunite this person with the id mentality winning out over his comrades and ruling the world with his power. The Superego self has disappeared off of the face of the earth, blaming himself for failing to see this coming. it is up to the man's ego self to gather allies to find the missing Superego and defeat his id self and put a stop to this group once and for all.
This man's future...His fates...an uncertain one. (hence the title)
For the most part these powered people (called the Ascended by this evil group) possess only one power, but there are those rare ones that have two, or at least the potential for a second power. There will be ways to gain these powers if they are not there at first, by training, or instinct or...other means. It's basically a good vs bad premise with the fate of the world at stake. The two sides gaining allies as both sides try to find that missing third party to try and gain an edge in this war.
Oh and if accepted we'll start with a major city being wiped off the map as a show of force. Sound like fun?
